Fidelity Investments is a financial services company in the United States. Starting back in 1946, today it is a provider of investment management as well retirement planning offering many financial services and products to investors, intermediaries and institutions.

It offers its customers a variety of investment products including IRA accounts, mutual funds, cash management accounts, ETFs, stocks, fixed income products, bonds, annuities as well as certificates of deposit (CDs). While not a bank, it offers its clients FDIC-insured brokered CDs from many different banks. In particular it allows the opportunity for their clients to liquidate CDs on a secondary market for Brokered CDs if sold prior to its maturity.

    • R: I have $500 thousand dollars in a 401K. I am playing very conservative and thought CD's. The problem is my RMD is over 27K per year. I know I cannot take interest from my account and I had thought to invest 100K into 5 different CD's. How am I going to take the RMD without penalty
