Discover Bank is an online bank in the United States and is a direct banking subsidiary of Discover Financial Services (NYSE: DFS), a major credit card issuer in the United States. Discover Financial Services also is the parent company of PULSE, a major ATM/debit network in the U.S with access at 380,000 ATMs and serving 4400 banks.
Discover Bank launched in 1986 and is chartered and regulated by the FDIC on a federal level and Office of the Delaware State Bank on a state level. With the FDIC also insuring its eligible deposit products.
It uses direct banking instead of traditional branch banking with customers accessing and communicating with Discover Bank online, on the phone and standard mail.
For its customers it offers various savings and investment products to store or earn interest on customer funds. These include online savings accounts, online money market account, online certificate of deposit accounts and online IRA cd accounts.
